Norse mythology predicts the Ragnarok, the final mystical battle on earth, will begin on February 22.
Legend has it that Norse gods including Thor and Loki will battle to the death after earth splits open and unleashes the inhabitants of hell.
The god Odin, who is ruler of Asgard, will be killed by the wolf Fenrir and the other creator gods will die.
Viking lore has it that the globe will then fall into the sea and life on the planet will cease to exist.

Ragnarok is the ultimate landmark in Viking mythology
The gods left standing after the epic battle will then restore Earth with just two surviving humans tasked with repopulating a utopian land.
People who believe in Viking mythology have already begun preparing for Ragnarok by gathering in York to celebrate the JORVIK festival.
Danielle Daglan, director of the JORVIK Viking Festival, said: "Ragnarok is the ultimate landmark in Viking mythology, when the gods fall and die, so this really is an event that should not be underestimated.
"In the last couple of years, weve had predictions of the Mayan apocalypse, which passed without incident, and numerous other dates where the end of the world has been pencilled in by seers, fortune tellers and visionaries, but the sound of the horn is possibly the best indicator yet that the Viking version of the end of the world really will happen on 22 February next year."
In the past a number of doomsday prophecies have failed to materialise, including the 2012 phenomenon.
